American Fifth Absinthe, house-made fruit simple syrup, deionized water, fresh mint

1.25 oz. American Fifth Absinthe
1 oz. deionized water
1/2 oz. house-made fruit simple syrup
5 mint leaves

Muddle mint & fruit simple syrup in double old fashioned glass. Add deionized water & absinthe. Stir. Top with crushed ice. Garnish with star anise.
